Hello, friends! We’re back yet again with yet another installment in the AgilePoint Generative AI (GenAI) blog series. Didn’t get a chance to read the earlier blogs? No problem – they’re available here and here.
Today, on the other hand, we’re taking things up a notch and sharing how GenAI can be used to create Form-Based Applications! That’s right, entire apps generated in seconds!
Now as you compose yourselves, let’s set the context as to what this means for our customers.
- Data Entry Applications are a HUGE market segment. While we’re doing our best to make every organization a process managed Enterprise, the sort of ‘data goes in, data comes out,’ application are upwards of 70% of the applications that most organizations build. Process is definitely King, but sometimes we just need a quick and easy way to maintain customer records, or whatever it is you need to track within your organization. Now, it will take mere seconds to get these up and running.
- Forms are where most of the complexity lies in any application! With the advent of GenAI for Forms-Based Apps, piloting new applications becomes a breeze! All of that tedious initial set up goes right out the window, so you can begin piloting your apps in a snap!
Now as with any AI solution, there will still be a need to massage what gets generated. Perhaps it’s adding or removing a few fields, rearranging the layout, and what have you. But AgilePoint has your back and will make your development efforts much more productive, with a drastically shorter time to value than ever before. If this sounds too good to be true, read on down below, and prepare to have your mind blown!
How Will This Work?
Generative AI in the Build Apps module will work based off of user prompts, so just like in Data Entity, all that is required will be to describe (in a sentence or so) the app you’d like to create. From there, app designers will be guided through a series of steps to ‘coach’ the results that come back.
Want to make changes to the suggestions? Not a problem, you can always add new fields as needed, or remove those that don’t make sense. Along the way, you can reclassify fields as required, so if a text box is suggested but a text area might make more sense – feel free! And lastly, if the suggested fields are better off grouped differently, that’s fine too.
And finally, you’ll be dropped into the form designer, where your app’s UI will be ready to go and laid out exactly as it would be had you designed it the old-fashioned way. Wow!
So, prompts, then. That’s it? And Only Forms?
Take it easy! It’s still early days on the GenAI front. While this feature is sure to improve the lives of any AgilePointer, we’re just getting started.
In the coming weeks, you’re going to see our product team expand upon what’s covered in the video. In the near future you will also see the option for AI to create a new application based on spreadsheets, images and PDF forms in addition to user prompts. So, it’s probably a good time to start collecting all of those old school PDF forms that everyone knows and loves, so you’re ready to feed them into AgilePoint once this feature is released.
As for process, this is also in the works. We wanted to set a solid foundation first with forms, as this is often where most of the complexity comes from in any given application. Soon, you’ll see GenAI generate entire process models as well!
For now, take a look at the short video down below, and as always, we look forward to your comments down below.
Please note that this video is recorded while this feature is in limited-preview beta version. Some of the labels and icons might change by the time it goes GA but the general concept of generating an app would remain the same.
