In the series of announcements for Modern Work Center enhancements, next we are going to look at a slew of important enhancements done to this module as part of AgilePoint NX v8.0 Software Update 2.
The Modern Work Center, introduced in v8.0, received lot of customer accolades and appreciation. Its quick adoption speaks volumes about its usefulness and how much our customers loved it. We have been collecting feedback from customers to understand how we can take the whole experience to the next level. Many of the discussed features originated from our esteemed customers.
Using the modern card view layout, business users could introduce key business parameters/ variables into the task view itself. These are called the summary fields and it could be saved as a custom view. In this release, this feature has been extended back to the grid view to cater to those customers who prefer the traditional grid view.
The standard approach for viewing electronic forms involves navigating out of the context of the Work Center screen into a new tab on the browser, the user then performs the required actions on the form page and finally returns back to the Work Center. In this release we have added a new enhancement eliminate this navigation. Using the quick view feature, the user can work on the form with-in the context of the task view itself.
Moving on to the My Apps section, the need to improve the overall user experience became more imperative, especially when the number of apps started growing into a three-digit range. The star feature allows users to mark apps as favorite, which then appear under a separate tab for quick access. The app filtering capability has been enhanced. Users can save the filtered results as a view with its own permissions management which can come in very handy when designing team specific pages in Page Builder where filtered apps have to be shown to various teams.
An interesting app usage pattern which we came across was the repeated launch and execution of the same app, in a back-to-back manner. To cater to such users, we have introduced a new feature called Quick Launch, which does away with confirmation and navigation to let the user focus on the form page only.
We also came across few users who were taking screenshots/screen dumps of current task lists. To facilitate this data capture, we have introduced a new function to export the task list to CSV file.
While this was a quick summary of the enhancements, please look at the video to learn how these features work.
