As part of the series of product updates on AgilePoint NX v9.0 release, the next one I would like to share is the QR code control for eForms. Before we go further, let’s do a quick revisit of my earlier announcements on the same topic. In AgilePoint NX v7.0, we introduced workflow connectors for QR code. Later in AgilePoint NX v7.0 SU2, we introduced a feature to scan QR codes into the eForms through the iOS and Android apps.
Quick Response (QR) Code has become very popular and we see it everywhere in our day to day life. It’s uses have exploded over the last decade. QR codes are used in advertising, sharing web links, sharing contact information, sharing WiFi network, restaurant ordering, authentication, payments and more. We have been seeing a need to have ability to display QR code on the form specially when it comes to eForms being used as widget in Page Builder module.
The new QR code control supports the following types of QR codes:
- Text
- URL
- Telephone
- Geo Location
Some of the key features of the control are:
- The error control level can be configured by the user.
- The size of the QR image can be configured.
- An offline image of the QR code can be downloaded from the form.
- The QR code can be generated dynamically at run time, based on an external event, a process variable or even a user input on the eForms page.
- The QR code can be tied up with JavaScript to create a very customized behavior/experience.
Let’s look at this eForm control in action next.
Note: Please note that this video is recorded while this feature is in beta version. Some of the labels and icons might change by the time it goes GA but the general concept of configuring these activities would remain the same.
