In the series of announcements for Modern Work Center enhancements, next we are going to look at ability to define custom app specific actions for task and processes in the Modern Work Center.
Often times, business application owners want to have a customized app specific dashboard created for their end users where they can include custom action menu to take quick actions right from the dashboard without having to open a task form or process view to take action. Traditionally in most process centric and case management products, including such functionality would have incurred lot of development work as practically one of the consultant or partners would have to write the whole functionality from scratch.
A custom action allows any customer/business defined type of engagement or action to be performed on the Modern Work Center. These are besides the actions which AgilePoint NX provides out of the box. These actions can be executed by accessing business context information (documents, reports, dashboards, KPIs, process variables and more) and displayed on custom action specific user interface. We are able to achieve this by intelligently integrated rich web (CSS, HTML and JS) with process/application data to achieve various types of interactions and collaborations on the Modern Work Center.
This feature works on both card view and gird view. In fact, it works on inline forms which we had announced recently.
A few months back I covered this feature in one of the blog posts which showed real time collaboration between team members using Yammer and Microsoft teams.
At that time, this feature was only accessible using Professional Services through code. In AgilePoint NX v8.0 Software Update 2 release, we have exposed a custom action configuration framework under the Settings module which could be used by clients to setup their own actions.
